It Didn’t Hurt|A Poem

It didn’t hurt when your lips pressed against mine,
The same lips that touched the tips ecstasy pills
Along with countless bottles of alcohol.

It didn’t hurt when your hands roamed my body,
The same hands that injected morphine into your veins every now and then.
The same hands that did it again and again.

It didn’t hurt when your tongue slipped into my mouth,
The same tongue that touched the edges of the cigarettes that always hung from your mouth.

But it hurt when you yelled at me,
With the same voice that once whispered sweet nothings into my ears at night,
The same voice that whispered “I love you” with delight.-H
